hey will...personally, i love hand drawn animation...i think the look is really great if you can pull it off...but if that's kind of a stretch, maybe you could look into getting a program called Toon Boom Studio...it's a 2D program that works like traditional cell animation (you have to draw each frame in) but it uses some sort of vector system that i don't understand to do camera movements and stuff...it's kind of like, the program does all the really hard stuff for you...i think it's around $300, but i'm sure you could find it on a bit torrent site or maybe someone has a copy you could steal....anyway...sorry that was kind of long winded...good luck man...
Sooo... I'm trying to do Stop-Motion and I thought that even though I don't have access to the Digital SLRs through PPECS that I might get a GY or DSR to shoot with. Turns out that even though I'm a TV kid in a film class, I can't check any of those out. I'd rather not use the AG 15 or 80s, mainly b/c you never know what you can get.
So I'm thinking of investing (for the semester) in a digital SLR of my own. Something Used from Ebay or Craig's List and well under $1000. Anyone know of someone looking to sell?
Or better yet, anyone want to go in on the camera with me? or rent it from me at a minimal fee?
I looked into renting one and for the time I'll probably need it, it's not worth renting.
regardless of if you purchase your own SLR, you should definitely use a still camera over a video camera for your stop-motion...i've tried using video cameras before and it's super tedious cause there's always dropped frame problems...plus the SLR image will be way way way nicer than any video (short of HD) that you would use...
